Shincheonji brainwashes you by telling you to abandon your own thinking.
The condition of mankind’s heart has been the same in every era — even at the First Coming. Jesus himself taught that mankind’s hearts and words were evil:
“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
That is why God and Jesus call for us to no longer conform to the thoughts and habits of our past selves. We must become transformed by renewing our thoughts.
What does it mean to renew? It means to replace (something that is broken or worn out). Just as we would only replace something if it was broken or worn out, would the Scriptures say to renew our thoughts if they were fine as they are now? That’s something that was so difficult for me. Because I didn’t want to change but they kept telling me to change and I knew that I had to change.
Instead of our own sinful thoughts, which only lead to death, it’s better to have God’s word in it. I knew that but it was so difficult and I didn’t like being told that I need to study study study all the things that Shincheonji is able to teach you. All you do at Shincheonji is boring, honestly. You go out to talk to strangers and flyer and hopefully invite them to a study, or you study the Bible or go to service. So is it bad to want to wash out your brain and heart of previous things? Not necessarily. But do you want to and did I want to? That answer isn’t a clear yes.
